How Millennium Print Group Streamlined ISO Compliance With MVP One

Millennium Print Group, a division of Park Communications, manufactures some of the most famous trading cards on the market today. A long-time printing partner of The Pokémon Company International, the multimedia giant officially purchased MPG in 2022.

An acquisition of this scale comes with numerous changes, including infrastructure development and new operating procedures. In MPG’s case, The Pokémon Company required in-depth ISO certification audits to uphold their quality standards.

The Problem

ISO compliance was always a part of MPG’s operations, but audits were often drawn out due to complex recordkeeping. Their legacy CMMS didn’t allow Michael Clemmons, their Facilities and Sanitation Manager, to adjust fields in their asset records, often leading to inaccurate audit data.

“Their system was built, and you couldn’t change it. You couldn’t add to it. You had to enter stuff the way they wanted you to.” Said Clemmons.

He moved ISO tracking into spreadsheets to enter the correct data, but auditors struggled to access those records without a unified platform.

These accessibility issues were further complicated by the strict security protocols required by The Pokémon Company. With over 4,000 employees across 13 plant locations in the Raleigh area, MPG enforces a no-cell-phone policy on the plant floor to prevent leaks of unreleased trading cards.

Technicians used iPads with disabled cameras to complete inspections securely, but couldn’t capture the full scope of data. The result was a disconnect between plant workflows and centralized documentation for fast ISO compliance.

The Solution

MPG’s ISO compliance auditor recommended MVP One to Clemmons after seeing the audit process limitations.

“One of the ISO guys said that if we started using MVP One, he could get into the program and pull all the records he needed, and he’d never have to hear from me again. So, I said “Sold!” Said Clemmons.

After a demo and manual data migration support from a CMMS expert, MPG was fully operational on the system within a couple of weeks.

How MVP One Supports Easier ISO Compliance

  • Editable Record Fields: Unlike their old CMMS, MVP One allowed Clemmons’ team to customize fields to match their compliance needs. This flexibility made it easy to migrate data from spreadsheets into a centralized system.
  • Standardized Instructions: With embedded instructions for each digital work order and PM, the team could add compliance-specific steps to ensure audit readiness.
  • Audit Histories Tied to Every Asset: Audit histories are automatically tied to asset records with a complete, time-stamped log of every action taken.
  • Tailored User Permissions: Role-based permissions added control over who could view, edit, or audit specific data. This ensured sensitive records were protected while granting auditors access to the information they needed most.

The Outcome

The search for better ISO compliance quickly evolved into a broader operational win.

MPG has passed every single ISO audit with flying colors since switching to MVP One, even under the scrutiny of vendors like McDonald’s and Cisco. The team also gained new visibility into maintenance performance and production accountability.

Measurable KPI Improvements

  • Reduced MTTR (mean time to repair)
  • Reduced repair costs
  • Increased MTBF (mean time between failures)
  • Consistent LOTO (lockout/tagout) procedures

While ISO compliance was the initial priority, Clemmons found that MVP One’s digital work order assignments and equipment failure analysis tools delivered unexpected efficiency gains.

Before MVP One, breakdowns were often attributed to maintenance. With clear technician assignments via tablet and data-driven pattern tracking, MPG’s team could now trace recurring issues and access repair histories to speed up troubleshooting.

“I don’t know how we would have grown the way we are if we hadn’t been able to put the work orders in and assign them.” Said Clemmons. “I think we went from the worst to the best.”
