CCL Industries, a specialty packaging and label company, supports customers across industries ranging from consumer goods and food and beverage, to healthcare and specialty products. The company's success depends on keeping critical equipment running, maintenance activities organized, and asset information readily accessible.
To strengthen its maintenance processes, CCL Industries implemented the MVP One CMMS at its facility under the leadership of Facilities and Maintenance Manager Gerald Colosimo.
Colosimo, already familiar with the value a CMMS could bring to maintenance operations worked on creating a centralized system for managing maintenance data and asset information.
"We installed the CMMS a half-year ago,” he said. “I was familiar with the platform because I'd used MP2 and knew about all the equipment and assets. All assets are listed in MVP and we're able to have a good understanding of everything.”
Before implementation, CCL did not have a dedicated system for collecting and organizing maintenance information.
"We needed a system for data input. We had no other system available so we had to do everything from scratch," Colosimo said.
The implementation process went well even for users with little previous CMMS experience because of its ease of use. According to Colosimo, the system's ease of use made adoption easier among the maintenance personnel who use the CMMS regularly along with others responsible for creating work orders in MVP One.
Today, the facility uses MVP One to centralize asset information and improve accountability. MVP One is designed to connect work orders, asset tracking, inventory, scheduling, and reporting in a single platform, giving maintenance teams better visibility into their operations.
For CCL Industries, one of the biggest benefits has been the ability to document and monitor maintenance activities.
"It works very well. And it makes us accountable," Colosimo said. "It's fairly user-friendly and we can get very specific, which is nice. The best part is we have something that we can audit and monitor regularly."
Looking ahead, CCL is looking to expand its use of the platform over time. As Colosimo noted, MVP One is already delivering what the facility needs today, while providing room for future growth, including potential inventory control applications.
