How Better CMMS Support Led to a 90% Cost Reduction

The Greater Lebanon Refuse Authority runs a private landfill. They contain all commercial and household waste in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.

GLRA has managed waste hauling and recycling program for their region since 1959. Their goal is to serve Lebanon County with the same sustainability for the next 30 years.

Sustainable operations need more than old tools can offer. A future-ready CMMS with fast technical support is a must.

Software Dies Hard

Keeping an old CMMS looks cheaper at first, but gaps soon waste time and money. GLRA learned this firsthand with MP2, a legacy system they relied on for years.

MP2 is still operating, but it receives no updates. This forces maintenance teams to rely on third-party support. These providers often lack specific equipment knowledge and respond slowly to support requests.

The reporting features also stalled without updates. GLRA needed clear cost data to make smart decisions, but static reports blocked that. They resorted to manual Excel files to track costs.

MP2's gaps weren't just inconvenient; they cost GLRA control and quality of life.

How MVP One Revived GLRA's Maintenance Workflows

After MP2, GLRA wanted a familiar CMMS that was more powerful. MVP One checked both boxes.

I saw that (MVP One's founder) used to work for MP2," said Operations Support Specialist Tina Long. "So knowing that the team knew how that program worked was a plus."

The real difference came during implementation. MVP One's consultants turned a complex migration into a simple import.

  • Data Migration: MVP One imported vendor lists, carrier details, employee records, and account codes. This gave GLRA a fresh start without losing critical history.
  • Purchasing Workflows: Training sessions helped administrators master purchase order modules for easier procurement management.
  • Report Customization: Guided setup allowed GLRA to design reports that revealed true equipment costs to justify major purchases.

The new reports paid off quickly. Long found that one of their compactors cost $20 an hour to run. She replaced it with a new one that costs $2 an hour - a 90% reduction!

"Running a report is a breeze compared to MP2," said Long. "It's so much easier to see everything in one place."

Keeping Maintenance Momentum Alive

Maintenance success doesn't end at launch. MVP One adds value with ongoing training and support.

Monthly coaching sessions help Long's team perfect processes. Even when she doesn't have a pressing problem, she makes it a point to attend.

"I do the monthly coaching even if I don't have a question. Somebody else might ask something I didn't even think of," said Long.

GLRA also uses MVP One's Knowledge Base for fast problem-solving.

"I usually find information (in the Knowledge Base) before going to the live chat. I can also print articles that we use regularly and put them into a booklet for our team to use as they go," said Long.

Old tools put long-term plans at risk. The right CMMS partner makes progress unstoppable.
